Community Engagement Fundraiser

Location: Rotherham

Salary: £26,312 - £32,160 per annum

Vacancy Type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday with the expected flexibility to work evenings and weekends)

The Role

As Community Engagement Fundraiser, you’ll work closely with the Community Fundraising Manager to deliver the operational plan and meet income targets.

You’ll support all aspects of community fundraising, with a strong focus on stewardship and enhancing the donor journey.

You’ll build and nurture relationships across Rotherham and surrounding areas, ensuring a strong pipeline of community support. This includes developing networks, promoting fundraising opportunities, and maintaining accurate records and reporting.

You’ll play a key role in raising the profile of the Hospice, acting as an ambassador and championing their values in every interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals, companies, and groups organising their own fundraising activities (e.g. runs, cycles, challenge events, workplace fundraising).
  • Proactively engage new and existing supporters, offering guidance, materials, and encouragement to maximise fundraising potential.
  • Build relationships with community groups (e.g. clubs, churches, schools) to increase awareness and income.
  • Develop a new Hospice Special Funds programme to grow regional support through volunteers.
  • Expand and retain community collection outlets, ensuring accurate records and adherence to cash handling procedures.
  • Collaborate with the retail team to increase community engagement and support.
  • Cultivate relationships to secure gifts in kind, volunteer time, and repeat support.
  • Promote community fundraising via social media, providing a steady stream of engaging content.
  • Maintain accurate records of supporter interactions and event engagement.
  • Contribute to team-wide communication to maximise opportunities and enhance supporter experience.
  • Secure event sponsorship from local businesses.
  • Represent the Hospice at promotional events and venues.
  • Organise and manage volunteers.
  • Ensure high visibility of community fundraising across Rotherham and surrounding areas.
  • Provide meaningful recognition to all supporters.
  • Act as a values-led ambassador for the Hospice.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven ability to use insight to improve fundraising performance
  • Confident communicator across all channels and stakeholder levels.
  • Experience developing supporter journeys via phone, written, and face-to-face methods.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Knowledge of the Rotherham area
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
