The company is a rapidly expanding plant hire business, based in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. With over five years of operation, they have grown significantly and now operate from five locations across the UK. As part of the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group, a leading global brand in the construction machinery industry, they are proud to be at the forefront of an exciting and growing market.

The Role

They are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with some exposure to finance or accounting work who is looking to build a long-term career in accountancy. This is an ideal opportunity for a part-qualified AAT student or someone with practical experience in a finance setting to further their development in a supportive SME environment.

This is a structured apprenticeship position combining 1 day per week at college to study AAT, and 4 days in the office, where you'll gain practical experience and be trained by experienced professionals.

Working as part of a small, friendly Finance team of four, you'll be supported by the Accounts Assistants and the Financial Controller. You’ll receive hands-on training across various areas of finance, helping you build the foundations of a successful accountancy career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing purchase invoices into the accounting software
  • Chasing approval of invoices
  • Chasing overdue invoices from customers
  • Assisting the Financial Controller with reports and audits
  • Processing bank transactions into the accounting software
  • Maintaining relationships with their customers and suppliers
  • Assisting the operations department with any support they may need

Skills and Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn in busy office environment
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Politeness while communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Good knowledge of IT packages with data input accuracy a must.
  • High levels of numeracy.
  • Good personal and working ethics.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Organised with the ability to set priorities.
  • You must have a minimum of 7 A-C GCSEs including English and Maths (or equivalent).
