We are recruiting for a Psychological Well-being Practitioner

Here at Forward Trust, we deliver a complex range of drug and alcohol services in the unique prison environment. Our support includes providing advice, health and wellbeing, motivational work, clinical services, and a wider range of group work and treatment programmes.

The Forward Trust services which are delivered within prison settings are commissioned by NHS England and are delivered in partnership with primary healthcare providers and HMPPS. Integration and partnership are integral to the work we do.

Role Responsibilities

As a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) a large part of your role will be to assess a service user’s suitability for evidence based psychological interventions for those presenting with common mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. You will be delivering a wide range of low-level psychological step 2 interventions to adults on an individual face-to-face basis or through facilitating therapeutic groups. The successful candidate will be contributing to team performance and delivery of a responsive, high quality service in line with IAPT requirements. You will actively participate in both Case management and line management supervision, they will also be supporting the service to ensure quality standards are met. All prison-based roles will require enhanced DBS and HMPPS security vetting. Please note this process can take up to 3-6 weeks. All offers are subject to receiving both HMPPS vetting and DBS clearances.

• Co-residents
• Associations that may cause a conflict of interest with your role or the prison service.

• Social media and Open-Source checks (these are checks on content about you that's publicly available on the internet to ensure there's nothing linked to you that could undermine public trust and confidence in the prison service)
• Other government and overseas agency or police checks

The Ideal Candidate

Please see below a list of skills and experience needed for this role.

• Experience of undertaking comprehensive risk assessments, including assessment of risk to self and others.
• Experience of delivering Step 2 Psychological interventions.
• A thorough understanding of Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) and the
• concept of stepped care
• Genuine interest in motivating and developing people
• Project and time management skills
• Inter-personal skills and ability to relate to a diverse range of people
• Understanding the need for evidence based psychological interventions.
• Ability to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service
• Able to work across sites as required.
• Previous experience working in a prison environment
• Previous experience of working with people with common Mental Health issues such as anxiety and depression
