Location: Bemerton Heath Centre, Salisbury, SP2 9HU

​Salary:  £39,513 - £43,693 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

​Salisbury City Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Community Services to lead and innovate our community engagement initiatives.

Role Specifications:

  • Develop and implement the Council’s Community Engagement Strategy.
  • Identify and deliver community-based projects that enhance social, economic, and environmental well-being.
  • Manage and maintain community hubs, ensuring their functionality and alignment with Council priorities.
  • Forge and strengthen partnerships with statutory, voluntary, and private sector organizations.
  • Secure funding through grant applications and oversee the effective use of budgets for community projects.
  • Provide leadership to a dedicated team, inspiring excellence and collaboration.
  • Act as a safeguarding lead for children and vulnerable adults.
  • Represent community interests within the Council’s strategic planning and decision-making processes

Person Specifications:

We are looking for a visionary leader with a proven track record in community development and partnership working. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Effective partnership collaboration and stakeholder influence.
  • Comprehensive management of buildings, financial, physical, and human resources.
  • Inspirational team leadership.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of community development and engagement.
  • Key legislation, including Safeguarding, Equality Act 2010, Health and Safety, and community activities.
  • Strategic planning and organisational capabilities.
  • Networking, negotiating, and problem-solving proficiency.
  • A commitment to inclusivity and respect for diverse lived experiences.
