Recovery Coordinator

Location: London

Salary: £30,082 per annum

Vacancy Type: Contract, Full Time

Closing Date: 24th September 2025

This is an exciting opportunity to shape a new recovery support service for people in Islington. As Recovery Support Coordinator, you’ll oversee the launch and long-term sustainability of an innovative online programme, alongside face-to-face community activities.

Reporting to the Recovery Support Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in building and managing a network of peer mentors who will deliver a structured, five-day-per-week online recovery programme (including weekends). You’ll also line manage a part-time Recovery Navigator, who will help facilitate weekend activities and events from the Islington drug & alcohol community hub.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting, training, and supervising a team of peer mentors to deliver daily online recovery sessions.
  • Managing rotas, arranging cover, and ensuring the smooth running of the online programme.
  • Providing line management support to the Recovery Navigator.
  • Building partnerships with treatment providers, lived experience recovery organisations (LEROs), 12-step fellowships (AA, NA, CA), and other community groups.
  • Creating strong referral pathways from treatment services into recovery communities.
  • Encouraging clients to engage with wider Forward Trust initiatives, such as Forward Connect, More Than My Past, and Addiction Awareness Week.
  • Supporting the collection and reporting of data to evidence outcomes and sustain long-term programme delivery.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role where you’ll be at the heart of building a recovery-focused community in Islington.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone with the drive, organisation, and passion to bring this new programme to life. You’ll be skilled at engaging people, supporting volunteers, and building strong local networks.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Experience in recruiting, coaching, and supervising volunteers.
  • Experience of facilitating groups or delivering group training.
  • Strong ability to engage effectively with people in recovery.
  • Knowledge of the voluntary sector, mentoring programmes, and service user-led groups.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office and databases.
  • Experience of collecting and reporting data for monitoring and audit purposes.
  • Demonstrable experience of remote working.
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, diversity and equality issues.
  • Commitment to the recovery agenda and the role of lived experience in supporting change.

If you are excited by the opportunity to build something new, empower others, and strengthen recovery communities in Islington, we would love to hear from you.

Please note part-time candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
