Band 6 Community Mental Health Dual Diagnosis Nurse

Location: Thurrock 

Salary: £26,977 per annum, Plus Benefits

Hours: Part-Time – 21 hours per week

We are recruiting a passionate and experienced Band 6 Dual Diagnosis Nurse to join our dynamic community-based substance misuse service in Thurrock. This role is part of our integrated approach to supporting individuals experiencing both substance use and co-occurring mental health issues.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver a high standard of evidence-based nursing care and specialist interventions to a diverse client group in the community.

This part-time role (21 hours per week) is ideal for a registered nurse (RMN or RGN with relevant experience) who is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals affected by addiction and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Assessment & Care Planning: Undertake detailed biopsychosocial assessments and formulate tailored care plans for individuals with dual diagnosis needs, in line with NICE and clinical guidelines.
  • Treatment Delivery: Administer and monitor opioid substitution therapies (e.g., buprenorphine, methadone) and other pharmacological or psychosocial interventions as appropriate.
  • Integrated Working: Collaborate closely with internal teams, GPs, mental health services, and local authorities to provide joined-up, trauma-informed care.
  • Health Promotion & Recovery Support: Deliver harm reduction advice, relapse prevention strategies, and health education to support sustained recovery.
  • Safeguarding & Risk Management: Identify safeguarding concerns and implement appropriate risk management and escalation protocols.
  • Clinical Leadership: Act as a role model for best nursing practice, support the development of junior staff, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with NMC standards and Forward Trust policies.

This role does not require prison clearance, but an enhanced DBS check will be required prior to appointment.
