General Assistant

Location:  Derwent Hill, Portinscale, Keswick, Cumbria

Salary:  Grade 2 (SCP 5 - 6) £25,949 - £25,989 (pro rata)

Derwent Hill are looking to recruit General Assistants, the job will include evenings, weekends and possibly some kitchen shifts.

Main Purpose

To provide excellent customer service as part of the Derwent Hill Venue Team. 

To complete general housekeeping duties and other customer service tasks including food & drink service

Key Tasks

• Cleaning of all areas  
• Service of food and drink  
• Preparation of dining areas for meals  
• Washing up  
• Laundry  
• Assisting chefs in kitchen duties  
• Serving in the bar and shop  
• Moving furniture and setting up rooms as required 
• During appropriate periods use opportunities to develop your skills  
• Other reasonable duties as may be directed by the Centre Director  
• Contribute to Derwent Hill’s welcoming and supportive ethos, working flexibly when necessary to support colleagues. 

Experience

• Working in a housekeeping, kitchen and/or bar environment with experience of customer service.
• Ability to develop knowledge and experience of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations and to follow these regulations and Council Policies.

• Be able to provide excellent customer service by being able to delight customers and deliver high quality tailored services to meet needs and exceed expectations
• Work effectively within a busy team environment, or independently with ability to work at a fast pace and cope well with a higher level of workload.
• Able to take a practical approach and pay attention to details, seeing see tasks through to completion, ensuring they are completed on time or to deadlines and to a high degree of accuracy
• Able to follow working practices and stick to procedures.
• Able to make decisions and reach conclusions.
• Be able to communicate to share and obtain information, listening to others to assess requirements in order to respond appropriately and efficiently
