Brighton College Prep School is seeking to appoint a Gap Assistant to start in January 2026. This is a fixed-term role, ending in August 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

• To assist in the games, music, drama and dance department, preparing equipment for lessons, supporting during lessons and on fixtures or in concerts and productions.
• To help with clubs and activities at lunchtimes and after school.
• To help with regular duties, supervising in the playgrounds and dining hall.
• To help manage the lost property system in school.
• To be responsible for tidying specific areas of the school.
• To assist staff with displays.
• The role may involve working in the EYFS with children from the age of three years old.
• Any other reasonable management request to support the day-to-day running of the school.

The role of a Gap Assistant involves assisting with the whole life of the School, including co-curricular activities. Candidates should point to areas of interest as part of their application.

The post-holder will be pro-active, organised and willing to go the extra mile. The ability to work well with colleagues at all levels and uphold a positive approach is essential. 

Hours of work:

• The post-holder will work 46.25 hours per week: 7.45am - 5.30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunchbreak, Monday to Friday inclusive.
• Some flexibility with start and finish times will be required.

Holidays:

• The role is term time only (35 weeks per year).
• Annual leave entitlement is included in the salary for this role.
• Holidays should be taken outside of the working weeks.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

• This role will involve daily contact with pupils and the successful candidate will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. 
• All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible and with whom they come into contact.
