Do you believe in the power of stories to shape minds & futures?

Could you lead a library that inspires compassion, commitment, & courage in every reader who walks through its doors?

If so, Thomas Deacon Academy invites you to turn the page to your next chapter.

 Your role:

Ready to write your next chapter with them?  As Lead Librarian, you’ll be the heartbeat of their library which is a vibrant, inclusive hub that supports both academic excellence and a love of reading across KS2 to KS5. You’ll curate diverse resources, lead exciting literacy initiatives, and collaborate with staff to embed reading into the curriculum. From themed campaigns and book fairs to mentoring student leaders and guiding reading interventions, you’ll champion a culture where reading is celebrated and every learner feels seen.

You’ll bring strong IT and organisational skills, a deep love of literature, and the ability to connect with students of all ages. Whether you’re a qualified librarian or working towards certification, your passion for literacy and your commitment to their values: compassion, courtesy, curiosity, commitment, courage and confidence, will be key.

About them:

The English department at Thomas Deacon Academy is a dynamic and collaborative team that places reading at the heart of learning. They believe in nurturing students’ voices and imaginations through literature, and their library is a vital extension of that mission. Together, they create spaces where stories spark curiosity, courage, and confidence – and where every student is encouraged to explore, question, and grow.

This is more than a job, it’s a chance to shape a generation of readers, researchers, and independent thinkers. You’ll be supported, valued, and empowered to innovate.
