Warehouse/Logistics Operative
Location: West Bromwich, West Midlands, B70 0DY
Salary: Competitive salary - dependent on experience
Hours: 39 hours per week Monday – Friday
The Role
The company are looking to recruit a Warehouse/Logistic Operative with experience in a warehouse environment, preferably within the despatch and logistics areas.
Key Responsibilities
Despatch
- Liaise with the sales administration office as necessary, regarding new orders.
- Accurate picking of all orders for each customer and distribution;
- Ensure effective stock rotation based on the “first in first out principle”;
- Conduct daily stock checks where appropriate,
- Liaise with customers and third-party distributors as required;
- Coordinate transport requirements.
- Distribution of products to the right customer OTIF.
General Warehousing
- Ensure standards of quality within the warehouse/despatch operation are always at an appropriate level;
- Liaise with production planning regarding despatch requirements.
- Create and manage a robust despatch and stock control system.
- Control and organise yard, storage and inventory space;
- Contribute to health and safety initiatives such as ongoing risk assessment investigations and near miss reporting
- Ensure staff keep the area clean and tidy at all times;
- Maintain agreed stock levels and order necessary stock as required
Other duties
- Assist/deputise for the Logistics Manager in case of absence, holiday and increased workload.
- Assist/deputise for the Despatch/Warehouse/Yard forklift driver in the case of absence, holiday and workload.
- Liaise regularly with the other shop supervisors and Operations manager, to attain delivery schedules.
- Ensure all material control/quality issues are reported to the relevant department managers.
- Ensure that the warehouse, despatch, and stockyard areas are kept in a good state of order and tidiness.
- Ensure that the department operates within the requirements of health & safety at work act. That all the necessary health & safety procedures adopted at Steelway Brickhouse are implemented and maintained.
- Ensure procedures are maintained for the unloading and loading of the galvanising vehicles, and that goods out are checked and input into the Monday.com work management system.
- Identify any issues in the areas of rejected/returned orders
Skills and Qualifications
- Logistics and supply chain management skills
- A forklift truck licence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly motivated and commercially minded with a strong attention to detail
- Proactive approach to managing work priorities and meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of warehouse software packages and MS Office proficiency
