Director of Inclusive Curriculum

Location: Group position working across Rotherham College, Dearne Valley College and North Notts College

Salary: £65,498 per annum

The Role

The role of Director of Inclusive Curriculum will report directly to the Deputy CEO/Principal, and you will be instrumental in shaping and driving the Group's strategy for inclusive curriculum provision, encompassing High Needs, SEND, Project-Based, and 14-16 pathways. Your leadership will ensure that every student, regardless of their background or learning needs, has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. 

You will lead the continuing development and implementation of the Group’s inclusive curriculum strategy, aligning with local SEND/SEMH and NEET priorities, employer needs, and student aspirations and continuously develop the High Needs, 14-16, and Project-Based curriculum offer to effectively meet the diverse needs of students and employers. 

Championing high-quality, inclusive teaching practices, ensuring all tutors are equipped to support students with SEND and SEMH requirements, enabling full curriculum access, ensuring students with EHCPs, those socially excluded, or facing barriers to education/training receive appropriate curriculum, preventative additional learning support, and opportunities for successful transitions into further learning and fulfilling work. 

A key responsibility for the role of Director of Inclusive Curriculum will be to design and deliver a nature-based project-based curriculum for students with complex socio-emotional needs, fostering collaboration, embracing challenge, and developing character, resilience, and empathy. You will lead a culture of high expectations, building successful relationships based on high-quality inclusive teaching and learning that supports students' emotional regulation for learning through a therapeutic lens. 

You will work with the Deputy CEO/Principal and other senior leaders to enhance the development of Further and Higher Education and Apprenticeship provision, aligning with relevant legislation and frameworks, to improve the quality of support and student experience. Alongside this, this role will also work with the Deputy CEO/Principal and senior leaders to prepare for and contribute to the FE and HE inspection process. 

A further key component of the role will be to ensure staff are skilled and motivated to provide innovative support plans and services that meet the needs of students and businesses, leading to excellent student outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications

To be successful you will need to have a demonstrable track record of successful inclusive curriculum and additional learning support through dynamic leadership. You will have extensive knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, relevant legislation, and best practice in inclusive education.  

You will have experience in developing and implementing innovative curriculum models, including project-based learning utilising a strong understanding of the needs of students with EHCPs, SEMH requirements, and those facing barriers to learning. 

With previous experience leading multi-functional teams across a multi-site organisation, driving improvements and/or supporting a successful provision.  

You will hold a SENCo level 5 qualification or be willing to undertake. You will have achieved Qualified Teacher Status or have a professional qualification in this area. You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths.

The role of Director of Inclusive Curriculum will report direct to the Deputy Principal/CEO and form part of our Senior Leadership Team. You will work closely with all colleagues across the organisation, and you will be strategically responsible for the areas of High Needs, Project-based Curriculum, 14-16 provision and Additional Learning Support.
