Brighton College is seeking to appoint an IT Technician Intern

Reporting to: Senior ICT Technician, IT Project Manager

Main purpose of the role: We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our IT team as an IT Technician Intern. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to begin their career in IT through a 12-month paid internship.

You will gain practical, hands-on experience in a supportive and professional environment, contributing to the smooth operation of the IT systems across the College.

If successful, there is the potential for the role to become permanent at the end of the internship.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line technical support to end users via phone, email, and in person.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software.
  • Support the setup of IT equipment including PCs, laptops, printers, interactive panels, and mobile devices.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Help maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets.
  • Support the rollout of updates and patches to systems and devices.
  • Assist in managing user accounts, passwords, and access rights.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in IT workspaces and storage areas.
  • Contribute to documentation, guides, and help resources for users.
  • Follow all data protection, safeguarding, and health and safety policies.

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:

  • A strong interest in IT, technology, and problem solving.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from more senior team members.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
  • A polite, approachable, and professional manner.

Desirable:

A college qualification or degree in an IT-related subject is desirable, but not essential.

Hours of Work:

This role will work 40 hours per week, from 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday inclusive with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break each day.

Remuneration:

The salary for this role is £25,397 per annum.

23 days, plus bank holidays.
