Facilities Manager

Location: Ystradgynlais

Salary: £37,938 - £40,476 pro rata.

The Council is committed to serving the people of the town, by providing essential facilities and fostering community development and well-being for their residents.  A key part of thier services involves the management of a number of important community facilities.  These include two large recreation parks of 14 & 15 hectares, two memorial parks, the town centre clock, a sports recreation ground, a bowls club, the local cemetery and a network of public footpaths.

As they continue their commitment to community well-being, they are seeking a proactive, highly organised, and hands-on Facilities Manager to oversee and manage the Council’s property portfolio, assets, and infrastructure. This is a key role with wide-ranging responsibilities across facilities management, health and safety, project delivery, and regulatory compliance.

Your role will include attending regular Council meetings to provide expert advice and guidance to ensure the promotion of regulatory frameworks, inspection regimes and Health & Safety legislation.  You will be required to maintain the highest standards across all their properties and public spaces, by developing a detailed schedule of inspection and improvement works and repairs as necessary, ensuring that all works and projects are delivered on time and within service level agreements and budgets.  

You will also need to successfully represent the Council in discussions and negotiations with external bodies and suppliers.  You will also be responsible for supporting the Council’s environmental responsibilities under the Environment (Wales) Act 2016 and Well-being of Future Generations Act.

It is expected that you will have an appropriate professional qualification. A commitment to pursue continuous professional development is also expected.  Proficient ‘Office’ IT skills are also essential.  You will also need to attend regular evening meetings and occasional weekends when required.
