The Role
They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Build Manager to join the team in the South West region. This role will be pivotal in overseeing the successful delivery of their developments, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for managing site operations, maintaining health and safety compliance, and working closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to drive efficiency and excellence in the build programmes. Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Manage construction activities from contract award to completion, ensuring compliance with building regulations, NHBC standards, and company policies.
- Maintain rigorous quality control, assessing workmanship and ensuring homes meet the company’s’ exacting standards.
- Conduct final inspections prior to NHBC assessments, ensuring compliance and securing approvals on the first attempt.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Drive a safety-first culture, ensuring adherence to HSE regulations and company health & safety policies.
- Conduct regular site audits and inspections, ensuring all documentation is current and compliant.
- Work closely with site teams and subcontractors to uphold environmental and safety standards.
Programme & Budget Management
- Oversee construction programmes, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
- Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, and subcontractors to manage labour, materials, and costs effectively.
- Monitor and control financial aspects of contracts, identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide on-site leadership, coaching, and mentoring, supporting site managers in developing their skills and expertise.
- Act as the key point of contact between site teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and present monthly reports on project progress, financials, and operational performance.
- Attend management meetings at various locations to collaborate on business objectives and strategy.
Skills and Qualifications
- Qualified to HND level or higher in Construction or a time-served tradesman with extensive experience of the full range of construction trades.
- A member of the Chartered Institute of Builders (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of all aspects of construction and housebuilding and the relevant legislative requirements, including Health and Safety, Building Regulations, and NHBC requirements.
- Experience managing build programmes and KPIs [across multiple sites] while maintaining exceptional quality, efficiency, and compliance.
- Articulate and calm under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a team or in isolation and manage external working relationships.
- Able to contribute to the resolution of disputes.
- Ability to prioritise tasks to meet changing business needs, demonstrating a strong problem-solving ability.
- Organised and self-motivated with a willingness to take ownership of projects.
- A proactive, results-driven approach to programme delivery and team leadership.
- Strong IT skills.

- Full UK driving licence required.
