Support Worker/Activity Lead - The Bridges

Location: The Bridges

Salary:  £15,724.80

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Part Time

About The Role

Ready to be part of someone’s recovery journey?

The Bridges is a 24/7 residential substance misuse treatment centre in Hull supporting adults committed to abstinence. Our structured 3–6 month programme is based on the 12-Step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, alongside Motivational Enhancement Therapy and the Seeking Safety model.

We’re looking for a Part-Time Support Worker/Activity Lead (24 hours per week) to join our dedicated team and help us deliver structured, high-quality residential rehabilitation.

Working within a 24/7 residential setting, you’ll provide practical and therapeutic support to residents as part of a structured recovery programme.

Hours (24 per week):

  • Wednesday 12pm–9pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 8am–5pm
  • Plus, flexibility to cover holiday and sickness where required

You’ll combine empathy with clear boundaries, ensuring residents feel supported while maintaining the therapeutic containment and safety of the unit.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supervising and recording self-administration of prescribed medication
  • Facilitating check-in/out sessions and structured interventions
  • Carrying out drug and alcohol testing (including breathalysers)
  • Supporting residents to maintain boundaries and behavioural expectations
  • Maintaining security, health & safety, and risk awareness at all times
  • Completing accurate written and verbal handovers
  • Logging incidents and maintaining clear case notes
  • Lone working confidently, using on-call support where needed
  • Contributing to service improvement and quality standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Understanding of substance misuse and recovery principles
  • Ability to work calmly and confidently in a structured environment
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset
  • High attention to safety, safeguarding and confidentiality
  • Commitment to professional development

This is more than a support role, it’s a chance to help people build the skills, resilience and confidence needed for long-term recovery.

If you’re compassionate, resilient and ready to make a difference in a part-time role with real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
