Crematorium Officer

Location: Salisbury

Salary: £24,790 - £25,183 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday's)

Join Salisbury City Council as a Crematorium and Cemeteries Officer and play a vital role in delivering a professional and compassionate service to the local community. This rewarding position offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to support families during some of life’s most difficult moments — all while working as part of a dedicated and supportive team.

What you will do:

• Oversee services in the Chapel and operate the music system during services
• Act as first point of contact for funeral directors, officiants and public attending the Crematorium

About you:

• Experience in a customer-facing role, ideally involving bereaved or vulnerable individuals, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage paperwork accurately and meet strict deadlines.
• Knowledge of confidentiality, GDPR, and health and safety practices relevant to cremation and burial services.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, emotionally resilient and able to remain calm and professional in sensitive or challenging situations.
• Flexibility, teamwork, and the physical capability to assist with manual handling and equipment setup when needed.
