Warehouse Operative

Location: Barnsley

Salary: £12.21 - £12.63 per hour

The Role

A day in the life of a warehouse employee. As a warehouse employee, your day involves sorting parcels by destination, efficiently loading delivery vehicles, managing inventory, receiving and verifying new shipments, and conducting quality checks to ensure all parcels are correctly labelled and in good condition.

Specific Duties:

• Loading and unloading: Moving parcels into and out of delivery vehicles. 
• Sorting and scanning: Organizing parcels by destination and using scanning devices. 
• General warehouse tasks: Various duties involved in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse
• Receiving and checking goods: Ensuring deliveries match orders and verifying the condition of items. 
• Storing and managing inventory: Placing goods in designated locations, tracking stock levels, and ensuring proper stock rotation. 
• Picking and packing orders: Collecting items from shelves or racks, packing them securely, and preparing them for shipping. 
• Loading and unloading vehicles: Assisting with the loading and unloading of trucks and other vehicles. 
• Operating warehouse equipment: Using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move goods around the warehouse. 
• Maintaining a clean and organized workplace: Ensuring the warehouse is safe and efficient, adhering to health and safety regulations. 
• Keeping accurate records: Maintaining inventory records, tracking shipments, and updating paperwork. 
• Other tasks: Assisting with stock takes, quality control, and general warehouse duties.
