Part Time Prison Link Worker (Predominately in HMP Brixton and HMP Wandsworth)

Location: London

Salary: £25,154 pro rata

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Part Time

Closing Date: 24th November 2025

Working as part of a flexible, multi-disciplinary team, you’ll provide through-the-gate support to men in custody and post-release, ensuring continuity of care and engagement with substance misuse, probation, and community services.

This is a part-time role (14 hours/week), with some flexibility for community or training needs.

You’ll:

  • Work primarily from HMP Wandsworth and HMP Brixton, engaging with clients pre- and post-release.
  • Build strong relationships with prison substance misuse teams and other key partners.
  • Provide enhanced support for those at risk of non-engagement, including meet & greet on release, daily contact, and accompanying clients to key appointments.
  • Manage risks around treatment drop-out, harm minimisation, and overdose during transition periods.
  • Support clients to integrate successfully into the community and sustain engagement with local services.

About You

You’ll be confident, resilient, and able to work autonomously in prison environments while representing the Dependency & Recovery Service. You’ll carry a varied caseload and be comfortable balancing in-person and virtual work.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Communicate effectively with prison and probation partners.
  • Complete thorough assessments and collaborative action plans.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on electronic case systems.
  • Understand barriers to continuity of care and find creative ways to overcome them.
  • Work flexibly across London when needed.

You’ll play a vital role in helping people move forward with their recovery journey, reducing reoffending and promoting healthier, safer communities. We don’t duplicate existing provision; instead, we connect clients with the right services and help them stay engaged for lasting change.
