Service Engineer (Electrician)

Location: Ireland

Salary: Competitive

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time

Our client builds gas detection systems to suit each customer’s individual needs, not simply packages off the shelf. This ensures gas detection systems are fully compatible with the necessary gases and the applications associated with businesses.

They provide both fixed and portable equipment in order to meet any number of applications and health & safety requirements.

They also offer ongoing maintenance and calibration of fixed system on most makes and offer a bespoke service contract that will meet requirements.

The Role

To service, commission and repair gas detection and monitoring equipment and water leak detection equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain gas detection and water leak detection monitoring equipment.
  • Work as a team member or use own initiative to complete projects.
  • Observe safety procedures and meet electrical codes.
  • Lead several key projects on an annual basis.
  • Make decisions based on technical documents.
  • Perform electrical testing and inspections.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance checks on detection equipment.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to Customer callouts.
  • Problem solve issues and take appropriate remedial action.
  • Communicate effectively with the Customer.

Communication Responsibilities:

  • Keep General Manager informed of job progress and any issues.
  • Complete all documentation completely and accurately.

Quality & Continuous Improvement Responsibilities:

  • Be a team player regarding condition of your Service Van.

HS&E Responsibilities:

  • Understand Company HS&E Policies.
  • Identify potential hazards and take appropriate action to eliminate
  • Ensure all areas are clean and tidy

Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualified electrician. Knowledge of electrical systems, electrical hand tools, and industrial equipment.
  • Minimum of 18th Edition. Awareness of electrical regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Appropriate electrical qualifications.
  • Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions.
  • Ability to read schematics, electrical drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Testing & Fault finding
  • Experience in a Field Service role.
  • Previous experience of servicing/commissioning/repairing electrical equipment.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • At a minimum, GCSE’s (or equivalent) in Maths & English.
  • A full, valid driving licence.
