The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within their Asset Management team for a Head of Repairs.

The Head of Repairs will lead the organisation’s operational and strategic approach to responsive repairs; ensuring that all properties are safe, warm, dry and comply with requirements. The postholder will lead a team to deliver a fast, efficient, value for money responsive repair service that achieves consistently high levels of resident satisfaction. Through monitoring repair data, they will develop strategies to maximise value and income for the organisation. The Head of Repairs will manage budgets effectively, ensuring that repairs are completed to time and budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop robust quality control processes for responsive repairs
  • Lead the organisation’s response to repair-related legal cases
  • Be responsible for the procurement, leaseholder consultation, contract management and performance monitoring of responsive repair contracts
  • Monitor, analyse and act upon key performance indicators; trends in repair reporting, completion and spend; quality control; and the completion of allocated works. Identify and rectify adverse trends.
  • Develop, manage, motivate, support and train staff

Skills and Qualifications

  • MRICS/ MCIOB/ CEng or equivalent building related qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Able to lead others confidently on technical procedures
  • Able to manage and maintain robust financial, risk and contractual controls
  • Able to lead change and drive improvement 
  • Able to build strong working relationships
  • IT skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to achieve deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Worked in a role with a similar level of responsibility
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering customer focussed services
  • Achieving demanding performance targets, goals and standards
  • Contract management
  • Controlling, collating and analysing data 
  • Legislation, relating to housing and repair services
  • Customer service best practice
  • Service implications of working in diverse communities
