General Mate

Location: Thatcham, Berkshire

Salary: £16.369 - £32.34 per hour

Our client is seeking a reliable and hard-working General Mate to assist skilled tradespeople and site teams with day-to-day operations.

This is a hands-on role involving manual labour, material handling, and general site duties.

The ideal candidate will be physically fit, safety-conscious, and willing to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

• Assist tradespeople with basic tasks across the site (e.g. lifting, carrying, holding tools)
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
• Keep work areas clean, tidy, and hazard-free.
• Move materials and supplies to required locations.
• Help set up and take down temporary structures and equipment.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders.
• Adhere to all site health and safety regulations.
• Perform other general duties as required to support the smooth running of the site.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

• Good physical fitness and stamina.
• Positive attitude and willingness to work hard.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Basic awareness of site safety rules.
• Punctual, dependable, and respectful of site procedures.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a general labour or construction role.
• Valid CSCS card (or willingness to obtain).
• Driving licence (preferred but not essential).
• Interest in learning a trade or developing further in construction
