Independent Sexual Violence Advisor

Location: Based in Swindon (To coverSwindon and Wiltshire) (With hybrid working possible)

Salary: £24,956 per annum ​rising to £25,350 per annum on successful completion of probation 

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract until 27th March 2026

Our client is a charity supporting people in Cornwall, Devon, Wiltshire and across England and Wales who have been affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence.  They are independent of statutory agencies, including the Police, and every year they help thousands of adults and children across England and Wales to lead safer lives, free from violence and abuse.

They’re looking for someone special to join their team as an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) – someone who is passionate, resilient, and ready to walk alongside people who have reported rape or sexual assault to the police.

The Role

In this role, no two days are the same. You'll:

  • Support clients over 18.
  • Help families navigate the police investigation and court process.
  •  Provide emotional reassurance.
  • Be a source of strength during moments of vulnerability.

Key responsibilities:

  • Travel throughout Swindon and Wiltshire to provide support to Clients
  • ​Promote empowerment and self-help to enable Clients to take control of their lives
  • Respect the Client's right to confidentiality as prescribed within the Policy and comply with Data Protection legislation
  • Ensure Safeguarding Procedures are followed when working with Clients
  • Provide advocacy, information, emotional and practical support to Clients to address key needs including Benefits and Health, Civil and Criminal actions. 
  • Confidently undertake Risk and Needs Assessments with Clients and develop individual Service Support Plans to reduce identified risks
  • ​Provide Face to Face, Telephone and Email support to Clients and their supporters where appropriate
  • Support throughout the Criminal Justice System, liaising with Police and CPS on behalf of a Client.
  • Complete referrals into external agencies

Skills and Qualifications

  • A Valid UK Driving License and have access to a Vehicle.
